Day Two:
With so many professionals on the site, discussions of how to do things were going on everywhere. Here Freddie Combas discusses what he wants done with the upper waterfall area.
With Freddie handling the upper pond, others start working on the lower pond.
Pam Russell is looking for a dirt supplier in the yellow pages with Tom. We hauled in 5 or 6 loads of dirt to build up the area around the upper waterfall and around the perimeter of the pond itself. This was done to keep the run off water out of the pond.
Gloria and Nancy are busy cooking breakfast for the guys. We all enjoyed pancakes, sausage, bacon and scrambled eggs. Do you have any idea how much 20 guys eat? Nancy and I do now.
With breakfast over it was time to go back to work. Freddie Combas starts to work on the upper waterfall area.
Every guy and gal jumped in and was working on reshaping the pond getting ready to lay underlayment.
Still working on the reshaping of the upper pond.
Freddie uses the transit to check on height of the waterfall. Michael joins in holding the transit stick for measuring.
Gee it is already time for dinner. Nancy is busy turning over the hamburgers and hotdogs provided for by LindasJoy. Linda thank you, everybody enjoyed the meal you helped with. Gloria is in the background getting all the condiments set out for the hamburgers. We also enjoyed potato salad and a broccoli and cauliflower salad.
OK lunch over back to work reshaping the lower pond. We had a rain/lightning storm Thursday night so there was lots of mud to reshape.
Time to set the bridge so that the reshaping can include the bridge.
The pond is reshaped and the underlayment is laid in.
Now here is the Liner Snake. Ten guys to carry the liner from the side yard where it was cut to the backyard pond area.
With the liner in place in the pond it was time to unroll it.
Freddie having fun with the camera.
30' x 50' line is now rolled out into the pond.
Still working on reshaping the upper falls area.
Nancy taking a break in the swing.
We were short on liner so a short break was taken on the upper pond while Freddie and Gil ran to get liner. They purchased the additional liner at Smith Turf & Irrigation. A big thank you to them for giving us a big discount.
Liner is now in all the areas of the pond.
Now the part of getting those big rocks from the front yard, back to the backyard and into the waterfall. Dave is operating the track hoe and being directed by Gil Soto and Freddie Combas of Florida Water Gardens.
With the strap off the rock, Gil and Alexis work on moving the rock into place.
Form a line and rock the pond and just have fun rock'n.
Now that is what I call a Two-Man boulder.
Gil Belcher is on the end of the line and is laying all the rock in place.
Rocke' and Jeff test out their muscles.
Yes, even Gloria jumped in to rock and roll with the guys. Ryan and Brandon are still dancing from the night before.
And what was that you said Ryan?
Larry cools Nancy off with ice cubes down the neck. It actually felt really good as it was extremely hot on Friday afternoon.
Dave takes time off the track hoe to hook up the liner to the skimmer.
Gil Soto checking to make sure his waterfall rock is level, while Melvin and Alexis watch on.
Tom and Dave chat about how fast the pond is coming together.
Freddie gave Michael the sticker that Freddie had been wearing all day long.
"Chaos Disorder Panic"
"my work here is done."
Daddy Dave shows son Michael how to run the transporter. We used this piece of machinery the most transporting rock and dirt from the front yard to the backyard.
Nightfall is falling upon us and we are running out of signature boulders' for Freddie's "First Class" waterfall.
We break for our Pizza Supper donated by "Yogi".
